Producer Matt Straub spent two weeks in England this past August meeting with AAPAE’s British travel coordinator, visiting venues in Canterbury, Brighton, Salisbury, Cambridge and the Isle of Wight. He also spoke with staff at Southbank Centre in London, laying groundwork for future collaboration with British performing groups.
AAPAE announces a new "select" series at Carnegie Hall, New York City. This dance series will feature groups which have previously performed in AAPAE venues and have demonstrated the professionalism expected in this great hall. In this series choreographers are given free reign but asked to meet a common artistic challange. In the 2009 performance, one of their pieces must be performed on a dark stage using only dancer enabled lighting.
AAPAE announces a new series at Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. called America's Community Stage to the World. This series will invite the diplomatic corps and welcome performing groups from all over the world as fellow participants with groups from across the USA.
In March, producer Matt Straub visited Kiev and Odessa, Ukraine.
