Who is AAPAE?
The American Alliance of Performing Arts Educators, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, is a small group of performing arts professionals,
all current or former teachers.
We offer a serious, educational alternative to competitions. Our funfilled, multicultural and exciting performances are
for the only true judges ~ our audience.
Appearing on a world class stage such as Avery Fisher in Lincoln Center inspires a performing group to the highest standards in a way no competition can.
Our productions are usually soldout and always in front of enthusiastic, supportive audiences.
We perform only in world class venues with the excitement and drama,
because it’s the real thing.
Who is eligible to participate in AAPAE performances and events?
We invite all nonprofessional performing groups of any performing art.
Past performances have included
orchestras concert bands fife and drum corps
wind ensembles percussion ensembles drum groups
bell choirs folk groups ethnic groups
school choirs church choirs a capella choirs,
and even a championship jump rope group!
Our performances also feature many different styles of dance
ballet folk hip hop
clogging jazz tap
funk interpretive liturgical
In our performances each group stands out as unique!
What does it cost to participate?
Internationally known halls have major costs! Ouch! But we make it financially doable and also do something highly unusual ~ we create a full audience for a student production in the heart of the highly competitive New York City entertainment district!
Costs depend on the specific performance and are set by house/theater rental, union labor rates, stars involved, and a myriad of minor costs such as security, front of house, insurance, Stagebill layout and printing, etc. These costs are then equally divided equally among the participants. AAPAE takes care of all business, legal and production issues in this intense theatrical union environment.
AAPAE is a 501(c)3 nonprofit. You save money because AAPAE does not have any profit expectations or advertising costs. We can pass these cost savings directly on to you.
Note: Use our proven Tickets as Dreams method, including allotted program space to acknowledgement major benefactors plus returning dedicated add-on revenue back to each group.
Groups can self-fund their appearance and may even have money for travel.

How are groups selected to participate in AAPAE productions?
Groups who are chosen include ~
directors who have previously appeared with AAPAE
groups who come to us by recommendation of respected word of mouth
groups identified by our Selection Committee
groups who have the confidence to respond to our annual qualified mailing invitation.
AAPAE is inclusive, not exclusive and welcomes all sincere, nonprofessional performing groups of intermediate and advanced level. On occasion we may ask for a video or audio tape as one part of an application.
AAPAE performances offer students professional experience in a supportive environment. The nervous anticipation of waiting in the wings, the moment onstage of truth and reality like no other, and then the confident joy of a job well done, brings a strengthened character for a lifetime. This is the internal transformation called forth by the performing arts teacher.
